Wild Hearts Retreat: Feb 2-4 2018

Join Clare Lovelace and Anna Greer on this nourishing retreat to restore a feeling of connection to mother nature and sacred life. Clare and Anna are both passionate about using the practices of yoga to rewild the body, mind and heart. This Wild Hearts weekend  retreat will be about opening and strengthening the corridor between the mind and the heart, in the same way that rewilding in an ecological sense connects wild places and spaces through corridors – allowing freedom of movement for wild beings.

City living is stressful, and it is easy to lose our sense of wellbeing, ease and peace. Being surrounded by intense, fast paced energy can leave us feeling over-stimulated and depleted. Taking time to reconnect with wild places connects us back to ourselves. Recharge, restore and balance your mind, body and heart. Experience the healing power of the earth.

This retreat will take place at the beautiful Govinda Valley Retreat Centre in Otford, bordering the Royal National Park over the weekend of February 2-4, 2018. You will enjoy delicious vegan food, yoga asana, yin yoga, pranayama and meditation, kirtan, bush walks, solo contemplation time, nature connection and sensory immersion (aka forest bathing). Come and rewild your body, mind and soul!

Arrive any time after 3pm. In the evening there will be dinner, satsang and an asana class.


Morning pranayama, meditation and asana class, followed by breakfast. Mid-morning we will come together for a walking meditation/forest bathing/sensory immersion experience. After lunch we will begin making our beautiful communal nature mandala and then there will be free time to enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings, bushwalks, beaches. After dinner there will be kirtan, satsang and a yin yoga class to get you ready for an amazing sleep.


We will start the day again with a morning meditation and asana class. After breakfast we will take some time in solo silent contemplation, choosing a space to sit and observe the life around us. We will also compose a love letter to the Earth on this day after our weekend of connecting with her. We will have lunch and then checkout is between 2pm – 3pm.

About Govinda Valley

Govinda Valley Retreat Centre is located within the pristine Otford valley, one hour south of Sydney, nestled between mountains, bordered by a beautiful creek and national parks. The retreat space is built amongst 20 acres of gently rolling hills, gardens and bushland and home to many kinds of wildlife such as parrots, kookaburras, kangaroos and deer. There are peaceful nature walks nearby and the property is just minutes drive from the stunning Bald Hill lookout and popular beach destination of Stanwell Park. The relaxed and nurturing energy of the Otford Valley is the perfect place to unwind, heal and learn.

Govinda Valley has a therapy room providing guests with massage treatments, reiki or therapeutic consultations. Each day three delicious meals will be served in the large dining hall. There are many beautiful sites nearby to experience during free time including walks through the Royal National Park, beaches, lookouts, waterfalls, a hindu temple, a glow worm tunnel. If you would like to camp for the weekend you will need to bring your own tent, bedding and towels. Campers will have use of a the shared bathrooms.

How To Get There

Govinda Valley is approximately 60min drive from Sydney CBD and 50min drive from Sydney airports.

If you wish to catch the train from Sydney city or airport, the journey is easy and comfortable. The city to Otford train takes takes just over 1 hr and is a direct line. Airport to Otford train is also approximately 1 hr with one train change.

About your hosts

1E8A2671Anna is an 800-hr certified Jivamukti Yoga Teacher, who has been teaching yoga for the past eight years. Anna is interested in movement and how embodiment and movement exploration can be an act of remembering our wild selves. Anna practices not only yoga asana but kung fu and aerial silks/circus arts. All balance strength, fluidity and mobility in different ways but yoga’s philosophical and spiritual underpinnings keep her firmly on this beautiful path.

Anna loves Jivamukti Yoga’s emphasis on asana as a way to reconnect with the Earth and Yoga as a path to liberation through compassion for all beings. Anna has always been drawn to activism, starting off in the refugee rights and anti-capitalism movements and more recently crewing with Sea Shepherd Conservation Society in Antarctica for two whale defence campaigns in 2012/13 and 2013/14, protecting whales from the Japanese poachers who turn Antarctic waters red every Summer.

At present Anna’s focus, in passing on the teachings of Yoga, is to encourage people to embody love, kindness, fearlessness, beauty in these destructive times –– to use the practices of

yoga to rewild our hearts, minds, bodies and souls –– to fall in love with the Earth and protect what we love.

Clare’s yoga joclare meditation cropped.jpgurney began in 2010 on a beach in Byron Bay under the guidance of Mariana De Castro (from the Brazilian Swasthya lineage). Clare’s practice began as a purely physical pursuit to balance out an often chaotic lifestyle, but then evolved into a ‘toolkit for life’ that Clare carries always.

Clare believes that yoga does not just take place on the mat but intertwines with every element of our lives. Her practice has taught her that genuine happiness is not based on external conditions but can be achieved by living simply and mindfully with generosity and compassion. This is a philosophy

that Clare wants to share with the world.

Clare is registered at the RYT500 hour level with Yoga Alliance Australia. Clare completed a 200 hour teacher training in March 2014 with Mathew Bergan at Dancing Warrior Yoga and then continued a further 150 hour advanced teacher training with Mathew by December 2014.

Clare has also completed 50 hours of Chakra Sequencing , 50 hours of Ayuvedic Sequencing & 50 hours of Bhakti training with Jasmine Tarkeshi (Laughing Lotus Flow). And a 60 hour Yin/Yang advanced teacher training with Sarah Powers (Insight Yoga) and has also trained extensively with Donna Farhi.
